About the Author
Yasmin Saikia is the Hardt-Nickachos Chair in Peace Studies and Professor of History at Arizona State University. She is the author of Fragmented Memories: Struggling to Be Tai-Ahom in India, also published by Duke University Press.

Important documentation

A vital presentation of atrocitites and terrbile crimes during the Bangladesh war of liberation in 1971. It's estimated that 200 000 women where raped and/or tortured not just ny the Pakistani army but also by the freedom fighters of Mukti Bahini and the Indian military. Facts that are still denied and suppressed in the official history of the three parties involved.
In the book Saikia interviews the victims themselves. An absolutely necessary book for everyone concerned with the development of human rights or Bangladesh.
